Cafes | Press Tea

Press Tea, West Village, NYC.

Earlier in the week, I stopped by Press Tea to visit, and was able to sample a lot of what they had to offer. In an area that has many a cafe, this place doesn't fade into the background once you walk inside. From the comfortable seating, to the unique products they have to offer, this will be a place that I come back to time and again.

I had heard of this place before from friends, but never got a chance to check it out until now.

See more photos and read more about my experience, after the jump!

The moment I walked in, I noticed the couch seating and loved it. They have really nice wooden seating near their big windows as well. I love that this place caters to letting the natural sunlight in, and have curtains in case if it gets too bright for you. The decor is very "woodsy" and comfortable. You can easily make yourself at home, and they have outlets as well! Although they do not have wifi, or a bathroom, so this is purely a place to enjoy what they have, and to really build relationships with whoever you're with.

What really stole my heart, was the way that they brew tea. As you see in the photos above, they brew their "tea shots" the way you would pull an espresso shot. Tightly packing the leaves in, giving them a brief wash, and then letting them steep, makes for a deep and flavorful cup that you can't really find in most places. I find that a lot of other cafes have this kind of diluted flavor when it comes to tea, and Press Tea is not about that life at all. If you're someone that likes "watery" tea, or doesn't like their tea strong, you might want to try another place.

But what you should stay for, is their food and pastries, regardless of whether or not you're going for their drinks. Everything is made "in house," meaning it's homemade, and just like the tea, it's all flavorful. It's not one of those things where you have to wait for the flavor to come out, and it's not subtle either. You get what's described, and they don't skimp out on it.

Getting to talk to one of the owners was great, because you can really tell how passionate he is and how much he loves the place. They've gone through a lot as a business, but they persevered and made it to where they are now. The amount of hard work and care that has gone into this place, shows in the quality of what they offer, and the environment that they provide.

Remember to keep checking back here on my blog, because I'll be posting more photos throughout the weeks to come of what I actually got to try and how much I really enjoyed them!
